Short Biography
It can feel like no one understands you because of what you’ve been through. You might have difficulty trusting others and feel like you always have to watch your back. As you try to figure out who you are, you might struggle with self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. You may feel caught between cultures, unsure of which values to honor. You’re exhausted and burnt out. If you are struggling with any of these issues, you are not alone. Together, we can work towards finding balance and meeting your needs—to feel heard, to have choices in what happens around you, and to feel safe and secure. I specialize in supporting individuals facing trauma, including complex trauma and dissociative disorders, adolescents, children over 7, people of color (AAPI & BIPOC), and healthcare professionals. My integrative approach explores thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and systems, using experiential activities like art. As a 2nd-generation Asian-American woman and former physician, I bring my lived and clinical experiences to my work as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Tiffany Dang, LPC-S. I'm passionate about diversity, inclusivity, learning, and self-growth, and I would be honored to be part of your journey towards healing and growth.
Therapy Philosophy
I am passionate about establishing strong therapeutic alliances with individuals and facilitating their journey towards healing and growth through the medium of therapy. Specializations include trauma, adolescents and children over 7 years old, people of color, and healthcare professionals. I utilize an integrative approach using elements from therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Internal Family Systems (IFS)/parts work, Trauma Model Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and systems theories. I am highly conscious of the fact that each individual is unique, so I aspire to tailor my approach to each client as much as possible. I am certified in Trauma Model Therapy and am currently working towards certification to become a Clinical Certified Trauma Professional (CCTP). I am also currently undergoing training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). I am eager to learn as much as I can to help my clients, so I will continue furthering my education and learning as many modalities as I can. Ultimately, I experience the therapeutic process as fulfilling and rewarding due to both personal and professional experiences with mental health.
